Drive-by Blog: Date Night
I understand why it was decided to make this movie with Steve Carell and Tina Fey both on a high with their respective sitcoms (which I love both and watch regularly), it had to of made money. BUT, hate to tell you...improv comedians are no screenwriters, at least not in this case. Honestly it hurts me to talk so negatively about this because I appreciate both of them for the amount of times they have made me laugh, but truth reigns..and this was NOT a funny movie.
Date Night is about a routine suburban couple decide to take a couple's reservation at a fancy restaurant in New York City, resulting in them being chased by twisted police then bringing a mob boss and crooked politician to justice - solid plotline. The jokes fell flat and the funny seemed spread a little thin throughout th 88 minutes. Not even the star studded co-cast could offer much assistance (Wahlberg, Franco, Kunis, Common).
Just not that much to say - which says it all.
